Why is Furriq free during beta?

We launched Furriq to solve a real problem: most cat owners have no idea what breeds make up their rescue or mixed-breed cats, and DNA tests are expensive and slow. During beta, the tool is completely free so we can learn from real-world use. Every photo you upload helps us understand edge cases—unusual coat patterns, tricky lighting, or rare breed mixes—that improve the AI model for everyone.

Your feedback shapes the product. When you tell us a result feels off or surprisingly accurate, our team uses that signal to refine the classification pipeline. This open feedback loop is the whole point of the beta: build something genuinely useful before worrying about monetization.

What happens after beta?

When the beta period ends, we plan to introduce a free tier that stays free. Casual users will still be able to identify their cat's breeds at no cost. For power users—breeders, shelters handling high volumes, or veterinary clinics—we may offer paid plans with faster processing, batch uploads, and detailed lineage reports.

If and when pricing changes, we'll communicate it clearly and well in advance. No surprise paywalls. No features yanked away overnight. Anyone who used Furriq during beta will have early access to any new paid features before they roll out broadly.

For cat owners and shelters

We believe every cat deserves to be understood, regardless of the owner's budget or the shelter's funding. That's why Furriq will always be free for animal shelters, rescue groups, and adoption agencies. If identifying a cat's breed mix helps that cat find a home faster—or helps a shelter write a better listing—we want to be part of that story.
